Ball And Chain

Ball And Chain comes from a love of obscure 70's power-pop...There's a vibe there, redolent of dry bonus rooms, shag carpets, lava rock mantles, super 8 movies and records going 'round....an in-between spot in the church of rock and roll occupied by groups like the Guess Who, Badfinger and the early solo Beatles, human scaled, full of "exotic" friendly and lo-key charm....So here's "Ball And Chain", with a Soul School beat, a post-Specter/pre-Ramones melody, siren and frogs:

Ooh take me out tonight i wanna disappear with you
into the fire tonight
while looking in the mirror of you ...
and the street where you call my name is where the feelin' starts.
and the beat dancing in my head makes me fall apart.

well, You can lie about the weather
but you can't hide the rain.
are you completely sure
you wanna ride this train?
baby haven't you noticed
how the world has changed?
i'm gonna carry you woman
like a ball and chain

Ooh take me in tonight
you're beautiful and seventeen.
two wrongs makin a right
like cigarettes and gasoline.
and the beat pounding in my head makes me lose control
like a car crashing into the siren of your lonely soul.

Ch.

and the look you set my soul on fire with
when we explode...
is the last thing that i remember from the motherload.

well, You can lie about the weather
but you can't hide the rain.
are you completely sure you wanna ride this train?
baby haven't you noticed how the world has changed?
I'm gonna marry you woman like a ball and chain.
